A simple but powerful habit to start the day: gratitude.
Before getting caught up in everything that needs to be done, take a moment to appreciate the fact that you’ve woken up to another day. Then, spend a few minutes thinking about everything you’re grateful for—what’s happened, what’s happening now, and even what’s yet to come.
Most of life is spent chasing—wanting more, focusing on what’s missing, always looking ahead. But how often do we stop to acknowledge what we already have? The people who support us, the opportunities that have come our way, the things we once wished for that are now part of our daily lives. It’s easy to overlook these things when we’re always focused on the next goal.
Taking a few minutes to be grateful changes that. It brings a sense of calm and contentment, a reminder that even if there are things we still want, there’s already so much to appreciate.

Hi Hannes
I was so glad when you came back and started to blog again. You speak from the heart and you say what you feel and you are a good person. Thanks for this. I am so grateful for my walks and I always thank the Universe while walking on the beach/mountain/road/river banks for everything in my life. Everyone is running around. I do that a lot too. And yet, we can stop and thank our Greater Forces for leading us. So, thank YOU too!

Thank you so much for your kind words, they truly mean a lot. I’m so grateful to be able to share from the heart, and it’s wonderful to know that it resonates with you. Your gratitude during your walks is so beautiful. It’s amazing how moments of stillness and reflection can make such a huge difference. I love how you take time to thank the Universe for all that you have.

Thank you, Hannes for this article. We’d had rain in the area of California where I live. Last night, I sat down on the patio, listening to rain, contemplating the beautiful plants and just feeling/being grateful for the moment of peace, joy, blessings and especially now when the world seems to be in chaos.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful moment. It’s incredible how nature has a way of bringing us peace, especially during uncertain times. The simple act of sitting quietly, feeling connected to the world around us, and appreciating those moments of calm can be so grounding.

As I get older and grow more in the faith, I realize that besides Praising God in my prayer time, I also need to thank Abba for His answers to my prayers, His faithfulness, the blessings He gives me, His walking me through difficult times and His presence always being with me. I appreciate your post, thank you for being obedient to the Lord.

Thank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt reflection. It’s truly inspiring to hear how your faith has deepened over time, and the gratitude you express for His presence and guidance is beautiful. It’s easy to focus on the requests in prayer, but taking time to thank Him for His faithfulness and blessings is so powerful.
How has this deeper sense of gratitude shaped your relationship with God and others around you?

Gratitude before grind—love it. Gotta pause the hustle long enough to realize we’re already living parts of the life we used to chase.
April 2, 2025 at 7:51 pm
Well said Anthony. That is such an important perspective. Gratitude shifts our mindset from chasing to appreciating, and in many ways, it also refines the grind itself. When we take a step back and recognise what we once worked so hard for, it not only brings fulfilment but also gives us clarity—helping us distinguish between what truly matters and what is just noise. Sometimes, that realisation even changes the direction of the hustle altogether. Have you ever had a moment where pausing to reflect shifted your priorities or approach?

100% , Gratitude should be our daily tendency not occasional. There is so much to be grateful for .

Absolutely, gratitude has a way of shifting our perspective and making us more present. When we make it a daily habit, even the smallest moments feel more meaningful. What’s something you’ve been especially grateful for lately?

Created my blog here recently and have been reading some of your short writings. My compliments for your writing style! I think it’s extremely tricky and hard to short content that’s inspiring, creative, makes sense, and makes you think something new or different. You’ve definitely inspired me to try my hand at such short pieces! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful reminder.
Being grateful is such a simple thing, yet often forgotten. It doesn’t require much, just saying thank you in the morning for the gift of a new day is already enough.
Many don’t realize that today could be their last day, and tomorrow may never come. Life becomes truly meaningful only when we live it with gratitude
November 3, 2025 at 8:36 pm
You’re right. It really is. All it takes is being truly grateful for another day. It can fill us with so much warmth and peace.
I appreciate your last sentence so much.
“Life becomes truly meaningful only when we live it with gratitude.”
The world is filled with people, especially young ones, who is striving to find meaning in their life. They are usually trying to prove something to someone or themselves. Unsure whether they are enough.
All it takes is being grateful for another day, all the people we have in our lives and everything we already have. We already have so much to be grateful for, relatively speaking.
