Timekeeping

Author and journalist Mitch Albom on time:

"Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out."

Mankind is the only animal who uses time, currency, and mankind is the only animal who denies they are animal. Therein lies the problem.

Love this. I write of time as the trickster–full of illusions. And not existent.

I love this! So many “times”, we get caught up in the concept that we are bound to live our lives in the confines of “time accountability”, that we forget we as spirit are eternal not bound by time but moving through our timeless journeys of limitless life “times”! Today I now choose to just be present!

Time mustn’t be confused with rhythm. Animals and people have a rhythm of movement inside and outside their bodies. Rhythm must never be ignored!

“Time is built within us and is why man could invent clocks and watches!
The first time-keeper was the hour glass and human beings
forgot how to tell time by the Sun
or estimate time from within them
cause technology killed their within instinct time keeper!” _-Van Prince

I feel like humans are pre-programmed to know of their habitat stance which gone for a toss. Now humans assume that we are controlled by the time limitations when the capacity is beyond the realms of human body and mind complex.

I agree. Time keeping has allowed for enormous “progress” to be in industrialization and shocking harm to be made upon nature and natural physiology. Your words are are striking.

I often get lost in keeping track of the accepted time/space continuum generally accepted by the society I live in – sometimes, works out for me, sometimes I’ve been accused of ‘not valuing anothers’ time because I was a little late/little early – I finally gave up! I plan to show up at the appointed time – be there early, not arrive either late or early cuz “I killed some time” waiting – but anymore? Sigh – the time/space continuum just trucks on as if it doesn’t care where I’m at, who approves, or anything – and somedays? THE BEST Days?? For me? When my willy-nilly ways work out for me, and no hits taken for my ‘there is only know – remember the past, plan for future – but don’t get lost in revisionist history OR too attached to plans for tomorrow….” – – LOL
