I recently uploaded a short film with the title ‘Look Closer‘.
Because of the lockdown, everyone needs to stay at home and that means no adventures. I now have to make do with what I have, and that is our garden.
I have made many short films in our garden and I will probably make more in the future. I enjoy filming the same thing over and over again, but in a different way. I love the challenge. It forces my creative thinking. When someone says, wow you just have an eye for that, this is how it is developed.
Creativity, for me, is seeing things from a different perspective. The one you’ve developed over time. Your perspective. Your unique style.
I feel Marco Pierre White said it best.
“Everything you do becomes an extension of you as a person. You give people insight into the world you were born into. The world that inspired you.”
After I heard those words, I began applying it to my creative process. The quote was originally meant for chefs or someone in the culinary world. I thought, why not use it for my photography and films?
The art you create should be an extension of you. That’s what makes it unique. Stop comparing yourself with others and trying to be like them. Master your own unique style.
Well said 👏🏽

Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 All credit goes to my dad. He practically lives in the garden, and then I try to capture its beauty and share it with you 🙂

The part I liked best was not the quote about cooking, but this: “The art you create should be an extension of you. That’s what makes it unique. Stop comparing yourself with others and trying to be like them. Master your own unique style.” Nice words, thank you.
